October 9 News, in order to encourage more users to use Office, Microsoft announced the promotion of popular Office programs, including advertising-release of "junior version of" Office.
According to foreign media reports, Microsoft said today that "the initial version of" Office will contain limited functionality, only Excel and Word. "Junior Edition" Office is the Office 2010 family member, only installed on new PC. "Junior Edition" Office users can upgrade to full version of Office 2010.
"Junior edition" Office will replace Microsoft Works, fully compatible with Office file formats.
Microsoft will also try Google Docs and other free office software, new ways to compete. Microsoft will release Web version of Office 2010, relying on advertising revenue, but users need to have Internet connection.
Microsoft did not disclose "the initial version of" Office financial details.
